PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Justin Peter (ranked 5008 p4p, 4424 weight class) and Ben Soap (ranked 496 p4p, 464 weight class). Soap has chosen Drag Me To Hell as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Justin Peter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ben Soap! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horrible takedown attempt by Peter or perhaps it was just good defense by Soap, which made it look bad. Soap feints the counter takedown. Peter shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Soap's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Peter avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Soap has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Peter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Soap throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Peter passes easily into side control. Nice work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Peter is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Soap has escaped the position, nice work there. Peter goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Soap rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Peter's guard! Nice work there by Soap!
That's one minute gone in the round. Peter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Soap doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Soap manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Soap wants to pass the guard but Peter is keeping the position. Peter is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Peter is breathing heavily. Soap pushing down on Peter's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Soap is controlling the pace.

Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

He's trying to wriggle out but Soap has cracked it and Peter is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Soap!
