Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rylee Mannion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Lahey!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mannion drives through and clinches with Lahey against the cage.
Mannion tries to throw a body punch but Lahey avoids it by throwing Mannion back against the cage.

Mannion pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Mannion feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Lahey is working an open guard so Mannion takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Lahey lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Lahey's jab looks to have found its range, popping Mannion under the eye.

and Lahey counters with a left and a right that stings Mannion.

Mannion gets in close and instigates a clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mannion breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Lahey is trying to push Mannion away but Mannion has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Mannion breaks from the clinch.
Horrible takedown attempt by Mannion or perhaps it was just good defense by Lahey, which made it look bad.
Lahey tries to bum rush Mannion with a series of wild strikes but Mannion uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
No joy there for Lahey, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Mannion drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mannion stays in close to Lahey's body and controls the position.
Lahey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mannion. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mannion's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Lahey isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Mannion stacks Lahey on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Mannion!

Mannion has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mannion decides to stand back up.

Mannion throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lahey was covering up waiting for the punch and Mannion finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Lahey is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Lahey is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Mannion stays in close to Lahey's body and controls the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Mannion decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Mannion takes a shot right to the bread basket.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Lahey enables Mannion to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lahey manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Mannion ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mannion no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Mannion wants the takedown. Lahey is fighting it off but Mannion persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Lahey's guard against the cage.

Mannion is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lahey is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
