PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Raval Bard (ranked 3822 p4p, 3801 weight class) and Michael Barnes (ranked 338 p4p, 336 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Raval Bard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michael Barnes!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bard moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Barnes fails with a takedown attempt.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Barnes has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Barnes is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Barnes sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
