Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Darrion McKee (ranked 3176 p4p, 5308 weight class) and Freddy Salamanca (ranked 346 p4p, 517 weight class). Salamanca has chosen Watch Me Rise as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Darrion McKee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Freddy Salamanca!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salamanca with a lazy takedown attempt

and McKee counters with a takedown into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Salamanca tries to improve position but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McKee is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Salamanca's shoulder. That is not cool.
McKee advances nicely into full mount.
McKee sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Salamanca tries to get back to half guard but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McKee avoids the attempt from Salamanca to control.

McKee looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

McKee moves to back control.
Salamanca tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Salamanca keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

McKee controlling the position easily from mount.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McKee pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Salamanca tries to hold on but McKee pushes him away.

Salamanca is desperately trying to improve his position but McKee has a good base and remains in mount.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McKee takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
McKee is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Salamanca is in real trouble.

McKee is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Salamanca knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Salamanca for a finish.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
McKee controlling the position well here. Salamanca rolled but McKee kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Darrion McKee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

McKee closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Salamanca to the mat! Salamanca manages to get full guard.
McKee looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
McKee has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McKee's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

McKee wants to pass the guard but Salamanca is keeping the position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Salamanca is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Salamanca is looking to stand up but McKee isn't so interested in that idea.

Salamanca can't keep his opponent in guard - McKee advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

McKee is taking a breather. Salamanca says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

McKee is trying to work for a kimura but Salamanca is defending well.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with McKee in particular looking to stall.
McKee wants to pass the guard but Salamanca is defending well.
Salamanca is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Salamanca wants to control but McKee is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Horrible takedown attempt by Salamanca or perhaps it was just good defense by McKee, which made it look bad.
McKee keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

so McKee counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Salamanca is looking to stand back up but McKee counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Salamanca.
Darrion McKee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Freddy Salamanca.
Salamanca is breathing heavily.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with McKee in particular looking to stall.

McKee works his foot free and advances to mount.

Salamanca will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
McKee controls the position.
Salamanca is looking to regain half guard here but McKee keeps moving and retains side control.
Salamanca can't do much from the bottom here.

McKee is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Salamanca knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Salamanca is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but McKee has just dragged him back down to the mat.

McKee tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
McKee tries to advance to mount but Salamanca denies him.
McKee remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Well McKee has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
