Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Khamzat Chimaev (ranked 3842 p4p, 4356 weight class) and JJ Moss (ranked 475 p4p, 513 weight class). Khamzat Chimaev looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Khamzat Chimaev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, JJ Moss! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Illya Tyunina and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chimaev shoots in for a double leg but Moss sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Moss looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Chimaev shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Moss gets full guard. Chimaev throwing strikes from guard but Moss blocks nicely. Chimaev passes Moss's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Moss is looking to escape. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chimaev trying to control from half guard but Moss is working away. Chimaev working the head and body with strikes. Chimaev prevents Moss from standing back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Moss regains full guard. Nicely done. Chimaev is breathing heavily. Moss working a defensive guard here.
Moss is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Moss might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Chimaev haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Moss is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Moss has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Moss shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Chimaev as he avoids it easily. Chimaev goes for a double leg but Moss avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Moss continues to drive forward. Chimaev jumps guard but Moss stands there with Chimaev around his waist. Chimaev gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
I was talking to Chimaev's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Khamzat Chimaev. That's going to take a lot out of him. Chimaev is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Moss is defending well for now. Chimaev wants to take the fight to the mat but Moss manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Chimaev changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Moss fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Moss darts in and clinches Chimaev up against the cage. Moss misses with a punch to the body.

Moss tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Chimaev manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Moss gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Chimaev is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Moss keeps control of Chimaev as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Moss is trying to break the clinch but Chimaev is controlling him. Moss misses with a punch on the inside.
Chimaev has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Chimaev keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Moss's efforts to push away. Chimaev has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Moss uses from the top position. Moss trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Moss trying to control the position from guard on top but Chimaev is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Chimaev is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Moss slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Chimaev looking to control but Moss passes into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Moss is looking for a kimura but Chimaev is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Moss to get the leverage. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
JJ Moss dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Chimaev shoots in looking for a takedown. Moss tries to sprawl out of it but Chimaev keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Moss manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Chimaev fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Moss misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Chimaev.
Chimaev really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Moss is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Chimaev's half guard. Moss looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chimaev blocking the ground and pound attempt from Moss. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Moss in particular looking to stall. Moss is looking for a kimura but Chimaev is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Moss to get the leverage. Moss is trying for a kimura here. Chimaev looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Moss wins by kimura!
