The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Delfino moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Delfino tries a head kick but it misses.
Delfino throws a right hand that Cutinha ducks under and follows up with a left that Cutinha also avoids with ease. Delfino pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Cutinha works the jab nicely. Cutinha throws a right and a left that both miss. Elkir Delfino seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Delfino tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cutinha was well out of range. Poor timing from Delfino. Delfino throws a sloppy head kick and Cutinha moves out of range easily. Cutinha shoots in and bounces Delfino off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Delfino wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Cutinha manages to pass to side control. Delfino is trying to stand up here but Cutinha is controlling him well.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Cutinha lands a nice short elbow. Cutinha takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cutinha decides to stand and escape the position. No joy there for Delfino, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Cutinha decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Delfino pushes Cutinha off looking to stand but Cutinha dives back in and keeps control.

Cutinha fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Delfino sprawls well initially but Cutinha persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Cutinha looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Cutinha looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Delfino is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Cutinha is controlling him well. Cutinha stands up and we're back to a striking position. Cutinha scores with a takedown into Delfino's guard. Cutinha controlling from the top position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
