PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jurgis Tatumas (ranked 4343 p4p, 4548 weight class) and Jose Silva (ranked 528 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Tatumas on his heels. He'll look to pass Tatumas's guard now, I'm sure.

Tatumas might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Tatumas could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Silva is trying to control the action in half guard but Tatumas is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Tatumas is doing well to control the position and prevent Silva from advancing to side control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Silva is looking to land body kicks.
Tatumas was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Silva stuns Tatumas with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Tatumas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Tatumas takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Silva misses with a wild combination.
Tatumas looks to clinch
and Silva counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Silva darts in and clinches Tatumas up against the cage.
Tatumas is trying to stall.
Silva has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Tatumas after a bit of a struggle.
Silva drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Tatumas gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Silva gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Tatumas.

Tatumas jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Silva walks away with a smile on his face. Tatumas gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Tatumas tries to sprawl but Silva drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Silva stands up out of the half guard.
Tatumas tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Tatumas tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Silva counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Tatumas avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Silva shoots in for a double leg but Tatumas sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Jurgis Tatumas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Silva.
No joy there for Tatumas, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Silva looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Tatumas closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Silva is trying to improve his position.
Silva sneaks back into half guard.
Tatumas scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Silva manages to get to full guard.

Tatumas avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Silva looks winded!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tatumas wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jose Silva dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Tatumas misses with a few strikes there.
Silva dives in and grabs Tatumas's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tatumas pushes down on Silva's head and hops out.
It looked like Tatumas wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tatumas sprawls well. Tatumas wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Silva gets slowly back to his feet.
No luck for Silva with that takedown attempt.

Silva throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Silva tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Tatumas swivels and escapes.

Tatumas shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Silva is refusing to be controlled, as Tatumas sits in half guard.
Tatumas wants to pass to mount but Silva is defending the position.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Silva looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Tatumas tries to clinch up but Silva circles away and keeps his distance.
Jurgis Tatumas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Tatumas avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
An inside leg kick lands from Silva.
Silva tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Tatumas defends well and Silva ends up having to push Tatumas into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Tatumas lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Tatumas wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.
Silva lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tatumas wants to improve his position but instead Silva has moved into half guard.
Tatumas is trying to stand.

Tatumas is looking for a sweep. Silva is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Tatumas is staying active underneath Silva, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Tatumas is trying to maintain the position but Silva is very close to passing his half guard.
Tatumas on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Tatumas tries to get out of the position.
Tatumas tries to roll over but Silva keeps him under control.
Tatumas tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Silva has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Tatumas's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Tatumas wants to control but Silva is having none of it.
Silva pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Silva is working for a guillotine from mount but Tatumas frees his head quite easily.

Jurgis Tatumas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jose Silva is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jose Silva comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Silva has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
