Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Brett Johns (ranked 5544 p4p, 3532 weight class) and Samuel Jenkins (ranked 237 p4p, 160 weight class). Samuel Jenkins is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Brett Johns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Samuel Jenkins!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Colin Fotheringham and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jenkins tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Johns scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Jenkins manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Johns controlling the pace.
Johns knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jenkins on the ground.
Jenkins trying to hold on to Johns's head to control him but Johns postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jenkins looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Jenkins landing small, sideways elbows.
Johns is taking a breather. Jenkins says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Jenkins is looking for a sweep. Johns is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jenkins throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Johns dives in and scores a takedown into Jenkins's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jenkins looking to hit a scissor sweep but Johns is one step ahead there.
Johns definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Johns is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Johns has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Johns tries to free his leg and advance position but Jenkins is retaining full guard.
Jenkins throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

Johns has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jenkins is proving hard to escape from.

Johns wants to control from the top but Jenkins keeps moving.

Johns sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Johns avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jenkins wants to sweep here but Johns controlling him for the moment.
Johns trying to move into half guard but instead Jenkins has managed to sweep!

Jenkins wants to control from the top but Johns keeps moving.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Jenkins working his ground and pound in the gym.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Johns avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Samuel Jenkins will probably get the nod.

Jenkins scores with a takedown into Johns's guard.

Jenkins is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Jenkins throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Jenkins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johns swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Johns on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Johns tries to get out of the position.

Jenkins trying to control but Johns is working from the bottom.
Jenkins postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Jenkins has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Jenkins sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Jenkins is working Johns over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jenkins chips away with some ground and pound.

Jenkins drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jenkins jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Horrible takedown attempt by Johns or perhaps it was just good defense by Jenkins, which made it look bad.
Jenkins changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Brett Johns is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Johns shoots in and gets a takedown into Jenkins's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jenkins is on top in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jenkins accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Jenkins pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Johns is keeping the position for now.
Johns wants to sweep but no luck.
Johns utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jenkins postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Jenkins engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jenkins is looking to work some ground and pound but Johns has wrist control.
Jenkins trying to control but Johns is working from the bottom.
Jenkins throws a big right hand that misses.
Jenkins wants to control from the top but Johns keeps moving.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Jenkins closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Jenkins wants to lay and pray for a moment but Johns keeps working.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jenkins looks up at the clock and then as Johns takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jenkins smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Samuel Jenkins showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Johns tries to buck Jenkins off but Jenkins is having none of it.

Johns is looking for a sweep.
Jenkins wants to lay and pray for a moment but Johns keeps working.

Jenkins thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Johns is not content to let Jenkins control the position.
Johns is trying to improve his position.
Jenkins creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Johns sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Johns tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jenkins wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Jenkins tries for a kimura but Johns is defending well.
The strikes coming from Jenkins are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Johns is trying to get back to half guard.
Johns wants to control but Jenkins postures up.
Jenkins throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Jenkins has control of an arm but Johns manages to advance to Jenkins's back!
Johns is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jenkins tries to break free.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jenkins is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Johns.
Jenkins can't escape the position.
Johns not allowing Jenkins to control his hands.

Jenkins's corner are yelling at him, telling him to just focus on controlling Johns's hands.
Brett Johns has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Samuel Jenkins is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Jenkins rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Well Jenkins has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
