Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tom McPartlin (ranked 4316 p4p, 24016 weight class) and Nick Diaz (ranked 503 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tom McPartlin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Nick Diaz! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Donald Grub and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McPartlin wants to clinch and Diaz counters with a straight right hand. Diaz drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. McPartlin bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Diaz throws the kick towards the body but McPartlin avoids it. McPartlin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Diaz misses with a takedown attempt - McPartlin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Diaz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. This has been an exciting period of action! McPartlin misses with a takedown and Diaz counters with a nice uppercut. McPartlin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Diaz counters with a straight right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tom McPartlin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. McPartlin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Diaz but Diaz pushes him off and we're back to square one. A little jabbing left from Diaz on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Diaz with a lazy takedown attempt and McPartlin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. McPartlin shoots in looking for a takedown but Diaz manages to keep the fight standing, pushing McPartlin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Diaz wants to counter the offense by McPartlin and move into the clinch position. Excellent takedown into side control there by Diaz. McPartlin is trying to get back to half guard. Diaz decides to stand back up. Diaz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but McPartlin avoids it really well and circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McPartlin walks into a jab. McPartlin throws a nice head kick!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Diaz shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Diaz in particular looking to stall. Diaz is looking to take a break and control but McPartlin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McPartlin is looking to get back to full guard here but Diaz has managed to pass to side control instead. Diaz decides to stand back up. Diaz steps back and let's McPartlin get back to his feet. McPartlin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Diaz. McPartlin throws a head kick but Diaz moves out of range.
McPartlin lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Diaz at a distance.
McPartlin is breathing heavily. Diaz clinches up with McPartlin and pushes him back against the cage. Diaz has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics McPartlin uses from the top position. Diaz wants to stand but McPartlin is controlling the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McPartlin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Diaz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Diaz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McPartlin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McPartlin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. McPartlin wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving. McPartlin is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Nick Diaz will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
McPartlin drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Diaz scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Diaz rushes McPartlin and presses him up against the cage. Diaz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Diaz forces McPartlin back against the cage and clinches. Diaz is working for takedown but McPartlin is calmly controlling the position for now. A nice right hand lands inside from Diaz. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. McPartlin taking a breather. Diaz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Diaz drives through and clinches with McPartlin against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. McPartlin pulls guard effortlessly. McPartlin looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Diaz passes into half guard.
McPartlin is staying active underneath Diaz, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Diaz stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. McPartlin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Diaz rushes McPartlin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Diaz gets underhooks to prevent McPartlin's takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Diaz gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from McPartlin.
McPartlin misses with a short punch on the inside.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McPartlin misses with a short punch on the inside. Diaz lands a body shot. Diaz managing to block the knees to the body from McPartlin.
Diaz breaks from the clinch.
Diaz manages to get an easy takedown there - catching McPartlin on his heels. He'll look to pass McPartlin's guard now, I'm sure. Diaz stands and steps away. McPartlin gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Nick Diaz seems to be getting the better of the standup. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Diaz gets a clinch. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Diaz. Diaz manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
McPartlin tries to break the clinch but Diaz is controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed McPartlin clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Diaz working for a choke but McPartlin is defending well. Diaz is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged McPartlin with him. McPartlin is trying to defend but Diaz has an arm under the chin now! McPartlin grimaces and is forced to tap out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Nick Diaz!
