PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Devin Hill (ranked 2265 p4p, 1820 weight class) and Kingston Wall (ranked 245 p4p, 206 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Devin Hill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kingston Wall!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hill moves out of range of the strikes.
Wall lands a body shot.
Wall keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A little jabbing left from Wall on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
We've been told by Hill's head coaches at 3Band MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Hill misses with a jab to the body
and Wall counters with a series of strikes. Hill will be more careful next time no doubt.
Nice straight punches there by Hill. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Hill.
Hill goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

It looks like Kingston Wall has been cut.
Devin Hill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hill swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Wall scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Some wild striking there from Wall.
Wall connects with a body shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wall misses with a hook. Hill ducked under it nicely.
Wall lands a nice hook to Hill's body. Hill takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hill. Wall does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hill lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Hill misses with a straight left.
Hill uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Wall.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wall misses the shot to the body.
Hill was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Wall tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hill was well out of range. Poor timing from Wall.
The fight stays on the outside here - Wall looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Wall throws a shot to the body.
Wall misses with a series of wild punches.
Hill throws a leg kick but Wall sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Wall shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hill as he avoids it easily.
Hill lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Wall misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hill appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Hill throws a hook to the side of Wall's head but Wall sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A telegraphed right hand from Hill misses the target.
Wall has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Wall there as he acknowledges the shot.
Hill throws a big shot that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wall shoots in for a takedown but Hill shows good takedown defense.
Wall looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Devin Hill has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kingston Wall.
Hill tried to score with a low kick but Wall checks it.
A countering left hand to the body from Wall misses.
Wall fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Wall feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Hills jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Wall clinches up against the cage.
The referee is keeping an eye on Wall - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Hill pressing his opponent against the cage.
Hill tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Wall breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hill throws a series of punches but Wall moves out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wall is looking to clinch.

Wall closes the distance and pushes Hill back into the cage.
Hill misses with an elbow over the top.
Wall lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Hill or not.
Wall jumps guard but Hill turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Wall tries for a takedown but Hill manages to get underhooks.
Hill trying to stall but Wall improves his position.
Hill blocks an uppercut.
Knees to the body from Hill.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Wall.
Hill gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Wall looking to stall.
Hill missing with knees to the body.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Wall tries to throw a body punch but Hill avoids it by throwing Wall back against the cage.
Hill throws an elbow but it's blocked.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hill missing with knees to the body.
Wall blocks an elbow strike from Hill.
Hill blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Wall has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hill avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Nice body punch from Wall - that landed with a thud.
Hill throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Hill creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Wall's defenses.
Wall swings away with an uppercut that misses.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wall fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Wall blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Wall taking a breather.
Hill misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Wall.
Hill lands a damaging elbow.

That has opened up Kingston Wall's cut even more.
Hill lands a nice elbow.

The cut above Kingston Wall's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Wall wants to break free but Hill has control.
Hill misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Wall.
Hill's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Devin Hill will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Kingston Wall's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!

Hill gets a clinch.
Hill tries to throw a body punch but Wall avoids it by throwing Hill back against the cage.
Wall lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Hill lands an elbow just above Wall 's eye.
Hill lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

Kingston Wall's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Kingston Wall's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Devin Hill!
During a confident post fight interview, Devin Hill thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
