Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 15 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, Calabi Yau!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ronie Cash!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Edson Gomes and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yau just misses with a punch to the body.
Yau throws a body shot but no joy.
Yau has been working on his boxing with his coaches at MMA Dojo (Top Gym in Tokyo*) in the buildup to the fight.
Yau throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Cash on the side of the head.
Cash misses with an uppercut. Yau saw that one coming.
Yau throws a body shot but no joy.
Yau throws a body punch but Cash moves out of range.
And Cash tries to counter it with a takedown but Yau pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Yau throws a series of punches but Cash moves out of range.
Cash feints the counter takedown.
Calabi Yau seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cash keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Cash is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Yau with a body shot.
Yau wants to clinch up but Cash keeps it at a distance.
Cash fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Yau tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cash was well out of range. Poor timing from Yau.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cash throws a body shot but no joy.
Yau rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Yau takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Yau throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cash.
Cash avoids the body shot from Yau.
Yau fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cash scores with a push kick.
Cash throws a body shot but no joy.
Yau throws the left hand but Cash avoids the punch easily.
Yau misses with an uppercut

and Cash counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cash.
Yau preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Cash is looking to work some ground and pound but Yau has wrist control.
Cash throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Yau works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Yau is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Yau working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Cash.
Cash trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Cash throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cash accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Yau looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cash is one step ahead there.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Cash working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cash accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cash scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Cash is looking to work some ground and pound but Yau has wrist control.
Cash wants to pass the guard but Yau is keeping the position.
Cash working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Cash postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Cash has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Cash scoring with some ground and pound.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cash working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Cash preventing the sweep.
Cash postures up and lands a big shot to Yau's brow.
Cash throws a strike but Yau rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Yau is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Cash has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Yau is looking to defend but Cash has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Yau! Cash pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Yau taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Ronie Cash!
A loyal slave to those sponsorship dollars, Ronie Cash made sure he mentioned Core Combat, along with how happy he was to win his fight.
