The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walker shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Walker was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Walker looking to control but Flex is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Walker get's back to his feet. Flex with a poor takedown and Walker counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Flex's guard now. Flex is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Flex keeping moving, preventing Walker from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Flex is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Walker wants to pass the guard but Flex is keeping the position. Walker wants to control from the top but Flex keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Walker is really struggling to control Flex but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Flex takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Flex drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Walker wants to sweep here but Flex controlling him for the moment. Flex pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Walker is keeping the position for now. Walker can't keep his opponent in guard - Flex advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Walker controlling the position for now. Flex is working for a submission of some sort.
Flex looks gassed! Walker manages to get to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Walker keeping full guard, as Flex tries to pass. Flex slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Flex creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Walker sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Flex tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Flex trying to control the action but Walker is working from the bottom. Flex might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Walker kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Walker can't do much from the bottom here. Walker looks to move to half guard but instead Flex has passed into mount! Damn!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Walker wants to hold on but Flex pushes him away. Flex thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Flex prevents Walker from getting the reversal. Walker throwing hammer fists to the chest of Flex. What's that going to do exactly? Flex jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Walker is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Walker and Flex has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Flex wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Walker, who protects the arm well. Flex working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Flex wants to lay and pray for a moment but Walker keeps working. Walker manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Walker flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Flex wants to free his trapped foot but Walker is holding on for dear life with his legs. Walker is trying to get back to full guard. Flex wants to lay and pray for a moment but Walker keeps working. Walker is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Walker fails with the takedown so Flex counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Flex thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Walker controlling the position. Walker is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Flex frees his head nicely. Oh but Walker has switched to an armbar! Flex is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
