Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pinchi Puto (ranked 3294 p4p, 2265 weight class) and Arod Doyea (ranked 364 p4p, 261 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pinchi Puto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Arod Doyea!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Alexandre Firmino and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puto scores with a shot to the body.
Puto has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Puto throws a head kick that misses.
Doyea shoots and misses
and Puto counters with a low kick, right behind Doyea 's knee.
Puto lands with a cross.
Doyea looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Puto is fending him off so far but Doyea persists. Nope, Puto circles away and we're back to standing.
Puto throws a leg kick

and Doyea counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Puto is defending against the submission attempts here by Doyea.
Puto wants to get back to his feet.

Doyea is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Puto is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Puto is trying to stand back up but Doyea is controlling him
Doyea wants to take a breather but Puto is having none of it.
Puto tries to kick Doyea off but Doyea keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Doyea is pressing down on Puto's thigh, looking to free his foot. Puto is holding on for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Puto has his hands clasped together around Doyea's back. He's all about the action.
Puto pushes Doyea off looking to stand but Doyea dives back in and keeps control.
Puto wants to control but Doyea is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Puto is looking for a sweep. Doyea is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Puto is trying to stand back up but Doyea is controlling him

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Puto is looking to land body kicks.
Puto swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Doyea counters with a straight right hand.
No joy there for Puto, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Puto leaves Doyea with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Doyea shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Puto is trying to defend but Doyea finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Puto is not content to let Doyea control the position.
Puto preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Doyea seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Puto does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Puto is looking to control Doyea's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Puto avoid being mounted?
Doyea trying to pass the guard but Puto defending well.
Puto is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Doyea jumps into side control!
Puto wants to control but Doyea postures up.
Doyea looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Doyea wants to lay and pray for a moment but Puto keeps working.

Doyea tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Doyea is staying tight to Puto's torso, preventing him from escaping.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Doyea trying to control the action but Puto is working from the bottom.
Puto wants to control but Doyea postures up.
Doyea staying calm.
Puto tries to bench press Doyea off him but Doyea keeps the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Doyea is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Puto knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Doyea wants to control but Puto is keeping him busy.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Arod Doyea will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!

Doyea missing with a left hand there. Puto was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Puto went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Puto lands a really nice looking cross but Doyea seems unphased.

It looks like Arod Doyea has been cut.
Good standup being displayed there by Doyea as he connects with a hook.
Doyea throws a hook but Puto avoids it easily.
Doyea takes one to the chin there.
Puto throws a big shot that misses.
A punch lands to the side of Doyea 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Puto lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Doyea doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Pinchi Puto is winning the standup battle so far.
A shot to the body from Puto misses
and Doyea connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Doyea throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Puto was covering up waiting for the punch and Doyea finishes the takedown easily into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Puto manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Puto checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Doyea has his takedown stuffed
and Puto counters with an inside leg kick.
A big right from Puto misses.
Puto misses with a straight right.
The fight stays on the outside here - Doyea looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Puto is looking to counter punch.
Puto misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Good work by Doyea as he checks the leg kick.
Puto lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Puto on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Doyea has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Puto.

Puto lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Puto looks to land a right hand but Doyea moved out of range.
Arod Doyea seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Puto throws a series of punches but Doyea avoids them all with ease.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Puto takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Doyea fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Puto appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Horrible takedown attempt by Doyea or perhaps it was just good defense by Puto, which made it look bad.

Puto throws a chopping leg kick but Doyea manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

That's time! Puto's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

A swing and a miss from Puto.
Puto cracks Doyea with an open hand slap.
Doyea throws a lazy right hand but Puto sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Puto works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Puto misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Puto ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Doyea.
Puto swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Doyea.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Doyea lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Doyea drives through and clinches with Puto against the cage.
A head punch on the inside from Puto fails to land.

Puto breaks the clinch.
Puto ducks right into an uppercut from Doyea.

Puto takes a swing at Doyea's ribcage but misses.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Doyea ducks under a wild hook from Puto.
Doyea doesn't manage to clinch there - Puto circles away.
Puto is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Doyea can do to turn this around?

Puto has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Doyea finds it's way round the side to connect with Puto's head.
Puto throws a jab when Doyea was well out of range.
It seemed like Doyea was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Puto connects with a leg kick.
Doyea doesn't manage to clinch there - Puto circles away.
Doyea changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Puto tries to avoid it but Doyea manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Puto to the ground. Puto escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Doyea rushes Puto and presses him up against the cage.

Puto escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Puto throws a body punch but Doyea moves out of range.
Doyea avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A jab lands there for Puto.

A big left from Doyea misses.

Puto gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Doyea to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Puto wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Doyea manages to pass to side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Doyea wants to pass to mount but Puto is defending the position.

Puto tries to kick Doyea off but Doyea keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Pinchi Puto.
I think Puto has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Pinchi Puto rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
