Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Malik El Shabazz (ranked 1254 p4p, 1124 weight class) and Cayden Abner (ranked 168 p4p, 154 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Abner's choice of entrance music: Bulls On Parade. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Malik El Shabazz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cayden Abner!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Colin Fray and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abner gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
El Shabazz feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Abners jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Abner rushes El Shabazz and presses him up against the cage.

Abner pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Abner uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from El Shabazz.
Abner blocks a low kick nicely.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Abner! But no joy.
El Shabazz throws a head kick that misses.
El Shabazz swings away with a body shot that misses
and Abner counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
El Shabazz throws a nice outside leg kick.
El Shabazz turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
El Shabazz throws a low kick, looking for Abner's leg but Abner calmly moves out of range.
Abner with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling El Shabazz to score with a decent uppercut.
Abner fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
El Shabazz getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
The fighters circling - El Shabazz throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Abner is clearly trying to counter these attacks from El Shabazz with a body shot.

El Shabazz has managed to clinch.
El Shabazz using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Abner has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Abner lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
A shot in the inside from Abner.
Abner working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Abner tries to work over El Shabazz's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Abner makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Abner misses with a hook from the clinch.
Abner scores with a shoulder strike.
Abner struggles to land a body shot inside as El Shabazz controls his hands.
Abner lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
A left hand lands to the body for Abner.
El Shabazz missing with knees to the body.
El Shabazz prevents a body shot from Abner.
El Shabazz misses with a punch on the inside.
Abner lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of El Shabazz backwards.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Abner lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of El Shabazz backwards.
Abner changes levels and goes for a takedown here. El Shabazz fights it off and pushes away nicely.
El Shabazz throws a sloppy head kick and Abner moves out of range easily.

Abner lands a big head kick that sends El Shabazz tumbling to the mat! Abner takes a step backwards and waves El Shabazz back to his feet - he wants the finish!

El Shabazz is rocked!

It looks like Malik El Shabazz has been cut.
We've been told by El Shabazz's head coaches at Qube MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
El Shabazz wants to clinch
and Abner rattles El Shabazz with a well-timed uppercut counter. - El Shabazz tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Abner dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving El Shabazz stiff and motionless on the mat!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Cayden Abner!
