Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rolf Ruger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Esa Pablo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ruger comes to the ring accompanied by Refused - New Noise. Esa Pablo is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rolf Ruger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Esa Pablo! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruger throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pablo. Ruger closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. A lull in the action here. Ruger misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Pablo manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Ruger trying to mount his opponent but Pablo defends it. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Ruger has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ruger trying to control the action but Pablo is working from the bottom. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Ruger is looking to advance position but Pablo won't allow it. Pablo blocking the ground and pound attempt from Ruger.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pablo is looking to control Ruger's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pablo avoid being mounted? Ruger is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Ruger is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Ruger is working for a submission of some sort.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Pablo is staying active underneath Ruger, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Pablo is looking to control Ruger's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pablo avoid being mounted? Ruger seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pablo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Pablo works his way to full guard. Good work. Ruger is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Ruger trying to control but Pablo is working from the bottom. Ruger postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pablo trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Ruger wants to control from the top but Pablo keeps moving. Pablo wants to sweep here but Ruger controlling him for the moment. Ruger trying to move into half guard but instead Pablo has managed to sweep! Pablo postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Ruger looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pablo is one step ahead there. Pablo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ruger is keeping the position for now. Pablo passes into half guard. Pablo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ruger defends it well. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ruger is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pablo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pablo's back! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rolf Ruger dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.
Ruger throws a push kick but Pablo slaps the foot to one side. Ruger wants to clinch. Rolf Ruger is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A punch combination from Pablo misses. Pablo looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Ruger shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pablo as he jumps to the side. Ruger misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Pablo connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Pablo throws a series of punches but Ruger avoids them all with ease. Pablo fails to land with a series of punches.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Pablo. Ruger shrugs it off though. Ruger fails with an attempt to clinch.

Ruger misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Ruger checks a leg kick nicely. Ruger fails in his attempt to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruger takes a kick to the side of the head.
It looks like Rolf Ruger has been cut. Ruger avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ruger shoots for a double leg takedown but Pablo sprawls well. He's pushed Ruger's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rolf Ruger. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ruger shoots in and drives through. Pablo sprawls well. Ruger misses with a straight right. Pablo misses with a few strikes there.

Ruger shoots for a takedown but Pablo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Pablo scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Pablo throws a head kick but Ruger moves out of range.

Ruger bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Pablo gets back to half guard. Pablo trying to control from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ruger is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Pablo still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Pablo has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Ruger stops Pablo from passing to mount. Ruger is looking for a sweep. Ruger looking for a sweep but Pablo has passed into full mount! Oh no! Ruger tries to lock up and control but Pablo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pablo wants to control the pace but Ruger is squirming around nicely. Ruger tries to hold on but Pablo pushes him away. Pablo get's back to his feet. Ruger looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Ruger looking to sit in guard and control but Pablo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Pablo trying to control the position from guard on top but Ruger is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruger looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Pablo tries to free his leg and advance position but Ruger is retaining full guard. Ruger looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

A close second round but Esa Pablo will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Rolf Ruger's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Pablo swats away the attempt to clinch by Ruger. Pablo has Ruger up against the ropes in a clinch.
Pablo makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Ruger is trying to maintain a safe position but Pablo gets an underhook and turns Ruger into the ropes. Still in the clinch, Pablo scores with a nice short uppercut. Pablo taking a breather. Ruger wants a takedown but no success here.

Pablo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ruger shoots in for a takedown but Pablo shows good takedown defense. Ruger bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Pablo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Ruger is staying tight to Pablo's torso, preventing him from escaping. A control attempt from Pablo but he's now mounted!
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruger landing strikes from the mount and Pablo is in trouble! Ruger looking for a guillotine from mount but Pablo is having none of it. Pablo blocking the ground and pound. Ruger has control of Pablo's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Pablo regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Ruger is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Pablo has managed to escape the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pablo is looking to improve his position but Ruger isn't that keen on the idea. Pablo is squirming around, avoiding Ruger's attempts to control the action. Ruger throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruger takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Ruger fails to advance to Pablo's back. Ruger misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Rolf Ruger overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Pablo is trying desperately to improve position. Ruger is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Ruger!
