Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Starman (ranked 629 p4p, 408 weight class) and Naoyuki Nakano (ranked 78 p4p, 49 weight class). Starman comes to the cage accompanied by David Bowie - Starman. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Naoyuki Nakano!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Starman fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Nakano manages to avoid it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Starman throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Nakano stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Nakano gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Nakano has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Starman has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that John Starman will probably get the nod.

It looked like Starman wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Starman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Nakano is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Nakano seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Starman is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Team Beta Fail, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Let's hope that Nakano has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Nakano is continuing to stall.
Starman is trying to get back to full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nakano wants to lay and pray for a moment but Starman keeps working.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Starman.
I think Starman has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
