Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dimitri Buriak (ranked 662 p4p, 608 weight class) and Santiago Costa (ranked 96 p4p, 91 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dimitri Buriak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Santiago Costa!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Colin Fotheringham and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Costa shoots and misses
and Buriak counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Costa shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Buriak but Buriak pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Costa looks to score with a jab to the body but Buriak is just out of range.
Buriak swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Costa scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Costa looks for a takedown but Buriak sprawls well.
Dimitri Buriak has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Santiago Costa.
Buriak avoids the body shot from Costa.
Buriak looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Buriak throws a lazy right hand but Costa sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Costa throws a poor cross that misses
and Buriak counters with a stiff right hand.
Buriak fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Costa.
Costa takes a jab right on the kisser.
Buriak walks into a left hand.
Costa closes the distance but Buriak moves to the side
and Buriak makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Costa shoots in but Buriak avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Buriak throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

and Buriak counters with a nice body shot.

Costa closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Costa throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Buriak wants to control but Costa is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Buriak is looking to get back to full guard here but Costa has managed to pass to side control instead.
Buriak is not content to let Costa control the position.
Buriak is looking for a sweep.
Buriak looks to move to half guard but instead Costa has passed into mount! Damn!

Costa goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Buriak turns into him and now he's in Costa's guard.

Buriak connects with a couple of short punches.
Costa pulls Buriak in close to prevent any damage.

Costa has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Buriak wants to pass the guard but Costa is keeping the position.
Buriak wants to control from the top but Costa keeps moving.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Dimitri Buriak will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Costa throws a nice looking combination but Buriak bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Costa scores with a one two! Buriak had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Santiago Costa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Costa takes a swing at Buriak's ribcage but misses.
Buriak tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Costa tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Buriak paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Buriak takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Costa looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Buriak is fending him off so far but Costa persists. Nope, Buriak circles away and we're back to standing.

Santiago Costa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Costa throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Buriak tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Costa is in Buriak's guard.

Buriak throws an elbow that misses. Costa uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Buriak's guard. Nice move by Costa!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Costa stays in close to Buriak's body and controls the position.

Costa keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Buriak's head.
Costa slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Costa tries to free his leg and advance position but Buriak is retaining full guard.
Costa wants to control from the top but Buriak keeps moving.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dimitri Buriak.
I think Buriak has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
