Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Augusto Ricardo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paul Hogan! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, John Mangel and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Ricardo. Ricardo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hogan on the ground. Ricardo in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Hogan tries to buck Ricardo off but Ricardo is having none of it. Hogan can't do much from the bottom here. Hogan is looking to regain half guard here but Ricardo keeps moving and retains side control. Ricardo scoring with punches and elbows. Hogan on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Ricardo scores with punches from side control. Hogan tries to strike but it doesn't land. Ricardo scoring with punches from side control. Hogan sneaks back into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hogan works his way to full guard. Good work. Hogan has momentary wrist control but Ricardo slips an elbow through the middle. Hogan keeping full guard, as Ricardo tries to pass. Ricardo is working hard here to advance position. Ricardo wants to control from the top but Hogan keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hogan looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hogan had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ricardo is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Hogan Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ricardo's back instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hogan is trying to stick to Ricardo's back but Ricardo is turning into Hogan. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Hogan's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Ricardo. Ricardo landing with the ground and pound. Hogan has his foot on Ricardo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ricardo works his way back into a safe position though. Ricardo scoring with punches to the head and body. Ricardo with a nice head shot there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ricardo cracks Hogan with a solid left hand. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Ricardo with a nice head shot there. Hogan looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hogan looks gassed! Ricardo working some strikes from top position. Hogan working for a triangle but Ricardo defends it easily.
Ricardo works a leg free and moves into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ricardo working over Hogan with some ground and pound. Hogan looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Ricardo is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Ricardo works his way into side control. Ricardo scoring with punches from side control. Hogan is not content to let Ricardo control the position. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Ricardo in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Hogan is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Hogan is looking to reverse the position. Ricardo advances to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ricardo looking to finish Hogan with some ground and pound. This is bad for Hogan! Ricardo lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Hogan hang on? Ricardo lands a big shot there that rocks Hogan but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Ricardo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hogan is looking to escape. Ricardo working for a guillotine from mount but Hogan is in no mood to give up. Hogan tries to reverse the position but Ricardo maintains control. Ricardo landing strikes from the mount. Ricardo fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The referee warns Hogan that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Ricardo unloading with bombs! Ricardo lands a big elbow. Ricardo connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Ricardo is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hogan can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Hogan is rocked! Ricardo breaks from Hogan's wrist control and lands an elbow. Hogan is still in real trouble! Can Ricardo finish him? This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ricardo working Hogan over with strikes here. Ricardo lands a big elbow - Hogan is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Hogan is forced to tap out!
