Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Hammer (ranked 6934 p4p, 6751 weight class) and James Kent (ranked 598 p4p, 590 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnny Hammer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, James Kent! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Alyssa Summers and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kent scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Kent fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. James Kent seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hammer avoids the head kick by Kent.
Hammer doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Kent fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Kent connects with an inside leg kick. Kent looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Hammer is looking for a counter combo. Hammer gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Kent drives through and clinches with Hammer against the cage.
Hammer is trying to pull guard but Kent has him pressed against the cage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kent lands an elbow that stopped Hammer in his tracks for a moment.
It looks like Johnny Hammer has been cut. Kent keeps control of Hammer as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Kent pushes Hammer back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Kent lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. A nice glancing elbow lands by Kent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kent works on Hammer's body with a couple of short punches. Hammer is breathing heavily. Hammer takes an elbow to the forehead. Kent comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Hammer is rocked! Kent is working Hammer over against the cage. Hammer fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Kent lands an elbow just above Hammer 's eye. Oh Hammer is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Kent lands a left hand that snaps the head of Hammer backwards. Hammer tries to circle away but Kent has him pinned against the cage. Hammer seems to have got his legs back now. Kent lands an elbow inside that Hammer shrugs off. Hammer wants to break free but Kent has control.
Hammer is looking to break free of the clinch but Kent has double underhooks. Kent lands an elbow that stopped Hammer in his tracks for a moment.
Johnny Hammer's cut is getting worse. Kent has the Thai plumb, controlling the head nicely. He loads up with a big knee to the head and Hammer goes down! Kent pounces into side control - this one could be over soon!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kent remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Kent's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kent wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hammer, who protects the arm well. Kent wants to control but Hammer is keeping him busy. Kent works to advance to full mount. Hammer defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Kent controlling from mount. Kent is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Hammer is surviving well by controlling Kent's body position as best he can. Kent goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Hammer is on top in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kent is controlling Hammer's posture. We've been hearing good reports from Hammer's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Kent working for a triangle but Hammer defends it easily.
Kent is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Hammer wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Kent's closed guard. He's half up but Kent has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Kent pivots and extends the arm, Hammer falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Kent! Well done that man!
