PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Allen Mack (ranked 4336 p4p, 4521 weight class) and Tom Smith (ranked 385 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Allen Mack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tom Smith!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Ackerman and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a wild body shot.

Smith gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Mack looking for a takedown.

Mack escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Smith scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Mack wants to control but Smith is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Mack is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Smith pulls his head out easily.
Smith wants to pass to mount but Mack is defending the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mack wants to improve his position but Smith is controlling well.

Smith thows a huge punch but Mack dodges it nicely.
Mack is looking to control Smith's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mack avoid being mounted?
Mack is trying to get back to full guard.
Smith is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Smith decides to stand and escape the position.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Mack.

Smith bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Mack takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Mack stuffs the takedown attempt from Smith. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.
Mack drops down looking for a counter takedown but Smith sprawls and moves away.
Smith tries to clinch up but Mack circles away and keeps his distance.

Smith fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mack, pushing him back against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Smith has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Mack after a bit of a struggle.
Smith drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mack gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Allen Mack has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tom Smith.
Mack tries for a takedown. No joy.

Smith drags the fight down to the ground.
Mack wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
Mack wants to pass the guard but Smith is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mack will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mack is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Mack stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Smith has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Mack off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Smith closes the distance and clinches up with Mack, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes Mack against the cage but Mack circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Smith looks to land a combination but Mack avoids it well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A nice leg kick lands there from Smith.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mack.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Tom Smith dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Mack shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Smith defends it nicely.
Mack displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Smith.

Smith is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Mack is defending well.
Smith has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Mack after a bit of a struggle.
Smith tries to pull guard but Mack won't allow it.

Mack pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smith shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mack pinned against the cage. Mack gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Smith is breathing heavily.
Smith has a takedown stuffed.

Mack shoots in but no luck this time.
Smith tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Mack swats away the attempt to clinch by Smith.
Smith has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mack fails with a takedown attempt.
Mack misses with a jab, cross combination.
Tom Smith seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Mack closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Smith's guard.

Mack thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Mack tries to free his leg and advance position but Smith is retaining full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Smith is trying to keep Mack in close.
Smith keeping moving, preventing Mack from controlling successfully.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Mack closes this distance looking for a takedown but Smith circles away.
Mack throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mack off to one side.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Mack shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Smith clinches with his opponent.

Smith's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Mack shoots in and gets a takedown into Smith's guard.

Smith kicks Mack off and gets to his feet.

Smith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mack tries to avoid it but Smith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mack to the ground. Mack escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Smith closes the distance and clinches.
Smith slows down the pace here.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mack drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Smith gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Smith has Mack pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Mack manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Smith takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Smith wants to take the fight to the mat but Mack manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Smith jumps guard but Mack turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Smith jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mack walks away with a smile on his face. Smith gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Mack drives through with a takedown into guard.
Smith is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Mack dives into side control.

Mack working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Mack tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Smith being controlled for a moment.

Smith is not content to let Mack control the position.
Mack advances nicely into full mount.
Smith is squirming around, avoiding Mack's attempts to control the action.
Smith manages to regain half guard. Good work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mack content to control rather than advance.

Mack in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Smith tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Mack!
