Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daniel Yonic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Armad Bates!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, John Kavanagh and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yonic tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Bates counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
We've been informed that Bates has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Yonic avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Bates stuffs the takedown.
Bates jabs Yonic right on the nose. Yonic blinks but takes it well.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Yonic.
Bates looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Yonic fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Yonic. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Bates counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Yonic thinking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yonic swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Bates dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

and Bates counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Bates cracks a nice hook into Yonic's ribs.

Bates lunges at Yonic with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Yonic's hand.
A left lands for Bates.
Yonic is rocked!
Yonic is aggressively charging in as Bates backs up avoiding any damage. Bates tosses out a jab and Yonic runs right into it face first! Yonic is out cold! Bates dropped down on all fours and is barking in Yonic's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Armad Bates!
