The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

El Toro shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. El Toro showed some decent athleticism there.

Burns really doesn't want to stay on the ground with El Toro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Burns connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between El Toro's hands.
El Toro moves away from the strike by Burns.

and El Toro takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Burns tries to sprawl but El Toro drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Burns tries to regain full guard. Instead though, El Toro has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Burns is working to get back to half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Connor Mac Burns showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Burns utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Burns controls El Toro momentarily but El Toro frees himself.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
El Toro ducks under a wild hook from Burns.
El Toro fails with an attempt to clinch.
