Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Billy Sampson (ranked 4337 p4p, 5876 weight class) and Rafael Bangsil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rafael Bangsil has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Billy Sampson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rafael Bangsil! The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Steve Erwin and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sampson leaves Bangsil with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Bangsil misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Bangsil misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Billy Sampson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rafael Bangsil. Bangsil fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Sampson feinted with a counter takedown. Nice sprawl there from Sampson as Bangsil shoots in. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sampson looking to score a takedown here. Bangsil is defending well but Sampson drives through and ends up in Bangsil's guard. Sampson controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Bangsil looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sampson is one step ahead there. Bangsil pulls Sampson in close to prevent any damage.

Sampson trying to control but Bangsil is working from the bottom. Sampson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Sampson trying to control the position from guard on top but Bangsil is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bangsil is trying to control the position but Sampson postures up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sampson shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Decent striking displayed by Bangsil there. Sampson takes the fight into the clinch. Sampson is trying to pull guard but Bangsil turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Bangsil breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rafael Bangsil seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sampson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Bangsil closes the distance and clinches. Bangsil stops a takedown attempt from Sampson.
Bangsil escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sampson has his takedown stuffed and Bangsil counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Bangsil.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bangsil gets through Sampson's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Bangsil wants a takedown.
Bangsil breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Bangsil fails with a takedown attempt. Sampson appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Bangsil lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Sampson throws a body punch but Bangsil moves out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sampson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Bangsil's half guard. Sampson trying to control the action but Bangsil is working from the bottom. Bangsil really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sampson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Sampson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Sampson wants to take a breather but Bangsil is having none of it. Bangsil is trying to stand back up but Sampson is controlling him
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sampson looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Sampson prevents Bangsil from standing back up.
Sampson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Billy Sampson will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Bangsil fails with a takedown attempt. Sampson was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. The fight moves into the clinch position. Sampson has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Bangsil after a bit of a struggle. Bangsil has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Sampson uses from the top position. Sampson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sampson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Bangsil dives on top into guard. Sampson controls Bangsil momentarily but Bangsil frees himself. Bangsil wants to pass the guard but Sampson is keeping the position. Bangsil must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Sampson has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Bangsil is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Sampson. Bangsil decides to stand back up. Bangsil steps back and let's Sampson get back to his feet. Bangsil has Sampson up against the cage in a clinch.

Sampson works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Bangsil wants to sweep here but Sampson controlling him for the moment. Bangsil wants to stand but Sampson is controlling the position. Bangsil controls Sampson momentarily but Sampson frees himself. Bangsil is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Sampson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Bangsil dives on top into guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bangsil wants to control from the top but Sampson keeps moving. Bangsil with a flurry of punches that miss. Sampson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bangsil gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Bangsil pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sampson is keeping the position for now. Billy Sampson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Sampson is looking for a triangle but Bangsil pushes his legs off easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Bangsil controlling from the top position. Sampson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Bangsil working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Bangsil is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bangsil works a leg free and moves into half guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Rafael Bangsil showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Bangsil clinches up against the cage. Bangsil's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Nice takedown defense from Bangsil. No joy for Sampson on that attempt. Bangsil defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sampson. Bangsil lands a body shot.
Sampson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bangsil. Bangsil gets a takedown into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bangsil wants to pass to mount but Sampson is defending the position. Bangsil seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Bangsil is taking a breather. Sampson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Sampson looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Bangsil moves nicely into side control. Bangsil stands up and we're back to a striking position. Bangsil keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Billy Sampson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Bangsil has managed to clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! Rafael Bangsil comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Bangsil has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
