Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Phillip Terrell (ranked 2142 p4p, 2795 weight class) and Rickard Karstark (ranked 236 p4p, 311 weight class). The key to victory for Phillip Terrell has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karstark throws a body shot but no joy.

Karstark tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Terrell throws a looping overhand right but Karstark ducks down to avoid it.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Karstark has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Terrell is trying to trip Karstark. He has hold of a leg but Karstark is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Terrell persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Karstark working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Terrell doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Terrell manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

We've been hearing good reports from Terrell's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
