Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Knutur Berg (ranked 3348 p4p, 6031 weight class) and Magomed Mhiaolov (ranked 409 p4p, 605 weight class). Berg comes to the cage accompanied by Ég er svo flottur. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Knutur Berg! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Magomed Mhiaolov! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Dmitry Maklakov and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Berg fails in his attempt to clinch. Mhiaolov swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Mhiaolov avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mhiaolov looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Berg tries to clinch there but Mhiaolov circles away.
Berg misses with the combination.
Berg moves out of range of the strikes. Berg looks to land a combination but Mhiaolov avoids it well. Mhiaolov throws a big shot that misses. Berg seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Mhiaolov throws an off balance right hand
and Berg cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Knutur Berg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mhiaolov takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Berg staying out of range there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mhiaolov closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Berg shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Berg was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Berg working the ground and pound from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Berg wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mhiaolov keeps working. Berg thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Mhiaolov is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Berg is controlling him well. Berg looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Mhiaolov is pushing Berg's head away, looking to escape. Berg manages to hold on to the position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Mhiaolov is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Berg is looking to take a break and control but Mhiaolov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Berg working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Berg thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Berg tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Berg looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Mhiaolov is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Berg has just dragged him back down to the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Mhiaolov is looking to get back to his feet here but Berg is keeping cool and he's managed to take Mhiaolov's back. Berg is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Mhiaolov is defending well though. Berg let's go of the attempt for now. Mhiaolov is trying to get back to his feet but Berg has full control of the position and if anything, Mhiaolov has just worked his way into a worse spot. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mhiaolov is having to fend off submission attempts from Berg, who is looking to sink in the choke. Berg doesn't have the hooks in though and Mhiaolov manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard. Berg is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Mhiaolov has his hands clasped together but Berg extends and breaks Mhiaolov's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Berg.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Knutur Berg! Knutur Berg bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
