The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Kraven counters by moving into the clinch.
Kraven wants to break free but Hughes has control.

Kraven has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hughes uses from the top position.

Kraven has his foot on Hughes's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hughes works his way back into a safe position though.
Hughes has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Kraven is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hughes's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Hughes scores with a big shot! Kraven's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Kraven! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
