PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Steel Brightblade (ranked 24024 p4p, 6142 weight class) and Demetrius Jackson (ranked 681 p4p, 615 weight class). Demetrius Jackson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steel Brightblade!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Demetrius Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

It looks like Steel Brightblade has been cut.
Brightblade ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jackson moves away.
Jackson looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Jackson avoids the body shot from Brightblade.
Jackson now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
A cross from Jackson lands.
Brightblade tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Brightblade rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jackson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jackson fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Brightblade on the side of the head.
Brightblade misses with a shot to the body
and Jackson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Brightblade has a takedown stuffed.
Jackson looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Brightblade scores with a shot to the body.

Brightblade closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Jackson quickly recovers to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jackson is looking for a sweep. Brightblade is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Brightblade stalling.

Jackson is not content to let Brightblade control the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Brightblade is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Brightblade tries for a takedown but Jackson circles away easily
and Jackson counters with a left to the body.
Brightblade throws a right and a left that Jackson avoids nicely.
Brightblade falls off balance throwing a combination
and Jackson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A low kick from Brightblade is predictable there
and Jackson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Steel Brightblade's cut is getting worse.
Brightblade fails to land with a series of punches.
Jackson is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Jackson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brightblade trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jackson looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jackson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Jackson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jackson is looking to sweep but instead, Brightblade has passed into half guard.
Jackson is staying active underneath Brightblade, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Brightblade is really struggling to control Jackson but he's trying to hold on to the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jackson tries to get to full guard but Brightblade has control of the leg.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Brightblade not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Brightblade is keen to just control but Jackson is a slippery customer.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brightblade shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jackson pinned against the cage. Jackson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Brightblade looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steel Brightblade. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Brightblade shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Jackson eats them both and turns towards Brightblade to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Steel Brightblade will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Jackson scores with a nice strike.

Jackson drops Brightblade with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Brightblade looks back up at him and smiles so Jackson waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Brightblade is rocked!

and Jackson counters with a nice body shot.
Oh Brightblade is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Brightblade avoids the head kick by Jackson.
Brightblade went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Jackson cracks Brightblade with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Brightblade tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Jackson pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Brightblade is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Demetrius Jackson!
A very excited looking Demetrius Jackson made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
