Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bruno Gehard (ranked 3533 p4p, 23973 weight class) and Jon Yankowy (ranked 387 p4p, 656 weight class). Gehard comes into the arena with Scooter - Nessaja blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Emerson Jorge and Seu Braga.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Gehard. Yankowy does a little dance to reset his feet.
Horrible takedown attempt by Yankowy or perhaps it was just good defense by Gehard, which made it look bad.
Yankowy throws a head kick that half lands.
Gehard seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Gehard throws a right and a left that Yankowy avoids nicely.
Gehard throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Yankowy! But no joy.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Yankowy has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Yankowy shoots in for a takedown but Gehard shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Gehard shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gehard showed some decent athleticism there.
Yankowy is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gehard's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gehard's back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Yankowy is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Yankowy goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Gehard has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Yankowy but great work by Gehard.

Yankowy has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Gehard is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Yankowy.

Gehard wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Yankowy, who protects the arm well.
Bruno Gehard overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Yankowy manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Yankowy uses his free foot to push down on Gehard's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gehard.
