Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rod De Minaur (ranked 428 p4p, 1103 weight class) and Marlon Oliveira (ranked 53 p4p, 133 weight class). De Minaur comes to the cage accompanied by Seek and Destroy . Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rod De Minaur! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marlon Oliveira! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! De Minaur throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

De Minaur ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. De Minaur throws a right hand that misses
enabling Oliveira to counter with a crisp jab. De Minaur looks to land a combination but Oliveira avoids it well. De Minaur definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Oliveira misses with an uppercut
and De Minaur counters with an outside leg kick.

and De Minaur cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. De Minaur tries to score with a low kick but Oliveira moves his leg out of the way. De Minaur scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Oliveira rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and De Minaur counters with an inside leg kick. De Minaur moves into range and connects with a jab. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Oliveira digs a good body shot into De Minaur's ribs. Oliveira fails miserably with a takedown attempt. It looked like De Minaur wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Oliveira shoots for a double leg takedown but De Minaur sprawls well. He's pushed Oliveira's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. De Minaur throws a big shot that misses. Oliveira misses with an uppercut
and De Minaur counters with a big right hand! Oh Oliveira is in trouble here! De Minaur follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rod De Minaur! Rod De Minaur retains his lightweight title! During a confident post fight interview, Rod De Minaur thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
