PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tsuyoi Kakuto (ranked 1772 p4p, 4743 weight class) and Paul Rabbitte (ranked 64 p4p, 161 weight class). Kakuto comes into the arena with Gorillaz-Dirty Harry blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tsuyoi Kakuto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Rabbitte!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kakuto with a poor takedown
and Rabbitte counters with a left and a right that stings Kakuto.
Kakuto takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Rabbitte throws a sloppy head kick and Kakuto moves out of range easily.
We've been told by Kakuto's head coaches at Canucks Combat Club that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Kakuto fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rabbitte sprawls well initially but Kakuto persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Rabbitte manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kakuto shoots in for a double leg but Rabbitte sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Rabbitte throws a sloppy head kick and Kakuto moves out of range easily.
Kakuto fails with the takedown.
Rabbitte is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.

Kakuto shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Rabbitte napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Rabbitte throws Kakuto to one side and escapes!
Kakuto tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rabbitte defends well and Kakuto ends up having to push Rabbitte into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Rabbitte jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kakuto walks away with a smile on his face. Rabbitte gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Kakuto changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rabbitte looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Rabbitte is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Kakuto off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kakuto shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kakuto was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Kakuto shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Rabbitte is trying to defend but Kakuto finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Rabbitte is looking to get back to is feet but Kakuto passes into side control.

Kakuto decides to stand back up. Kakuto steps back and let's Rabbitte get back to his feet.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kakuto decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rabbitte, up you get!
Kakuto tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rabbitte sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kakuto somewhat.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Kakuto counters with a three punch combo that has Rabbitte backing up. Rabbitte nods at Kakuto to acknowledge the strikes.

Kakuto dives in and grabs Rabbitte's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rabbitte pushes down on Kakuto's head and hops out.
Kakuto shoots in and drives through. Rabbitte sprawls well.
Kakuto avoids the head kick by Rabbitte.

Kakuto manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Rabbitte on his heels. He'll look to pass Rabbitte's guard now, I'm sure.

Rabbitte manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Rabbitte is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Kakuto is defending well for now.

Rabbitte tries to bench press Kakuto off him but Kakuto keeps the position.

Rabbitte has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Rabbitte stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rabbitte wants it to stay on the feet.

Rabbitte throws a nice looking combination but Kakuto bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Kakuto shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rabbitte pinned against the cage. Rabbitte gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Kakuto's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Paul Rabbitte is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Paul Rabbitte comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Rabbitte has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Paul Rabbitte decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
Tsuyoi Kakuto was interviewed post fight and said 'Kyō wa watashi ga katenaito kami wa watashi ni itta (God Told Me I cannot Win today) '.
