Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Matthison (ranked 2914 p4p, 4483 weight class) and Konor McFox (ranked 287 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Konor McFox!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Darius Henderson and Topper Green.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McFox shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Matthison as he avoids it easily.
A low kick from Matthison is predictable there
and McFox counters with a series of strikes. Matthison will be more careful next time no doubt.
McFox forces Matthison back against the cage and clinches.
McFox breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Matthison shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Matthison tries to pass the half guard into mount. McFox knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
McFox is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Matthison's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Matthison's back!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
I really don't envy Matthison right now.

McFox is looking to take a break and control but Matthison is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Matthison tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Matthison bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McFox's guard.
Matthison postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
McFox really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Matthison. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Matthison postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

McFox has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Matthison wants to control from the top but McFox keeps moving.
Matthison really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Matthison is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! McFox is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! McFox has escaped and now he's on top!

Matthison shoots for a takedown but McFox saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
McFox blocks the body kick.
McFox forces Matthison back against the cage and clinches.

McFox escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Matthison slaps away a takedown attempt from McFox, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Matthison pushes McFox away with a front kick.
Matthison closes the distance but McFox moves to the side
and McFox counters with a one-two to the body.
Matthison closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. McFox quickly recovers to half guard.
Matthison seems to be working for a kimura but McFox defends the submission attempt.
McFox is staying active underneath Matthison, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Matthison is going oldschool here, as he tries to force McFox to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so McFox shrugs it off.
Matthison moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, McFox has worked his arm free - good work by McFox!

Matthison is working for a kimura but McFox is defending it quite comfortably.

That was a close second round but I would say that Marcus Matthison will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

McFox has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Matthison is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

I would just about give that final round to Konor McFox.
