Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pugilistic Dementia (ranked 2024 p4p, 3995 weight class) and Marcos Martinez (ranked 260 p4p, 483 weight class). Dementia's entrance music is Hit Me With Your Best Shot - Pat Benatar. A fine choice. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pugilistic Dementia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcos Martinez!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dementia throws a leg kick

and Martinez counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Dementia is looking to control Martinez's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dementia avoid being mounted?
Dementia is looking to improve his position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Martinez connects with a nice short shot to Dementia's temple.

Martinez is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dementia doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Martinez.
Dementia has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Martinez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Martinez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Dementia keeping hold of Martinez's head, controlling as best he can.
Martinez wants to take a breather but Dementia is having none of it.
Martinez landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Martinez winds up and cracks Dementia with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Dementia is looking to get back to full guard here but Martinez has managed to pass to side control instead.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Dementia not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Martinez wants to control from the top but Dementia keeps moving.
Dementia is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Martinez trying to control but Dementia is working from the bottom.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dementia looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Dementia listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Marcos Martinez dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Dementia lands a jab to Martinez's midsection.
Dementia lands a head shot.
Martinez tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Martinez ducks under a wild hook from Dementia.
Martinez has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Dementia does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Dementia takes a swing at Martinez's ribcage but misses.
Martinez shoots in for a double leg but Dementia sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Dementia buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Dementia cracks Martinez with a hook to the temple - Martinez is on wobbly legs here! Dementia swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Martinez falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Dementia wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Pugilistic Dementia!
A relieved looking Pugilistic Dementia thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
