Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Demitrius Costa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Junior Silva!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Thiago Cunha and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Costa misses with a series of wild punches.
Costa misses with a takedown attempt
and Silva counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Costa ducks under a wild hook from Silva.
Costa misses with a wild body shot.
Costa lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Costa throws a head kick but Silva moves out of range.
Costa fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Silva on the side of the head.
Costa misses with a body shot.
Silva fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Costa misses with a two punch combination.
Silva tries to counter by closing the distance.
Costa takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Silva misses with a body shot.
Silva closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Silva is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Costa looks calm but he's in trouble here. Silva gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Costa is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Silva lets go of the hold and Costa can pop his arm back in it's socket.
