Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rio De Janeiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcus Matthison!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Sergei Dronov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Matthison shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
De Janeiro is concentrating on defense, preventing Matthison from advancing position.

De Janeiro looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Matthison pushes past his half guard into mount!
De Janeiro tries to lock up and control but Matthison gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Matthison is trying to take his opponent's back.
De Janeiro blocking the ground and pound.
Matthison throws a sloppy strike and De Janeiro uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and De Janeiro has ended up in Matthison's guard.
Matthison is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Matthison working for a triangle but De Janeiro defends it easily.

De Janeiro avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
De Janeiro advances position into side control!

De Janeiro is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Matthison looks calm but he's in trouble here. De Janeiro gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Matthison is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! De Janeiro lets go of the hold and Matthison can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rio De Janeiro!
A relieved looking Rio De Janeiro thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
