Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Willy Kimber (ranked 5700 p4p, 5871 weight class) and Hiroyuki Shimada (ranked 527 p4p, 533 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Willy Kimber! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiroyuki Shimada! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Illya Tyunina and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kimber leaves Shimada with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Kimber throws a low kick but Shimada avoids it. Shimada is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kimber sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. A punch combination from Shimada misses. Kimber closes the distance and clinches up with Shimada, looking for a takedown. Kimber pushes Shimada against the cage but Shimada circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Shimada slaps away a takedown attempt from Kimber, before circling back to the center of the mat. Kimber fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Shimada, pushing him back against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kimber is trying to trip Shimada. He has hold of a leg but Shimada is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Kimber persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Kimber sitting in guard here, content to control. Kimber preventing the sweep. Kimber has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shimada can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kimber lands a couple of digs. Kimber slips nicely into half guard. Kimber winds up and cracks Shimada with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Kimber takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Kimber has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Kimber lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Kimber in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Shimada tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Kimber!
