PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Owens (ranked 5465 p4p, 5788 weight class) and Kulli Suuhun (ranked 516 p4p, 530 weight class). Owens comes to the cage accompanied by Fight. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kulli Suuhun was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kevin Owens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kulli Suuhun!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Steve Smith and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Owens tries to clinch up.

Suuhun drives through with a takedown into guard.
Suuhun is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Suuhun stands up and waves to Owens to follow him.
Owens cracks Suuhun with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Suuhun counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Suuhun.

Suuhun stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Owens swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Owens slaps away a takedown attempt from Suuhun, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Suuhun moves forwards but Owens connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Owens stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Owens wants it to stay on the feet.
We've been told by Owens's head coaches at Clinch Pride that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Owens dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Owens gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Suuhun wants to control from the top but Owens keeps moving.

Suuhun postures up in Owens's guard and throws a big left but Owens blocks it.

Suuhun drops back looking for a leg! Owens is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Owens manages to kick Suuhun off! Suuhun jumps back into Owens's guard.

Suuhun decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Owens, up you get!

It looked like Owens wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Suuhun looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Owens is fending him off so far but Suuhun persists. Nope, Owens circles away and we're back to standing.

Owens really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Suuhun is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Owens is just riding it out for now. Suuhun eventually gives up the hold.

I've got Suuhun winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
