The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sampson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Lava steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Sampson throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
No joy there for Sampson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lava changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sampson tries to avoid it but Lava manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sampson to the ground. Sampson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sampson throwing a counter right hand but Lava manages to avoid it.
Sampson lands with a nice combination. Lava backs away looking to recover.
Lava shoots in but Sampson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Sampson half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Sampson lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Nice combo by Sampson! Oh, that's hurt him - Lava falls to the canvas and Sampson follows him into side control.

Lava is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sampson lands a decent elbow from side control.
Lava is still in real trouble! Can Sampson finish him?
Sampson scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Lava is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Sampson can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
