PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Murska Puro (ranked 1393 p4p, 2004 weight class) and Dexter Morgan (ranked 163 p4p, 222 weight class). Morgan has chosen Survival of the Fittest as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dexter Morgan!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, William Gold and Donald Grub.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puro misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Morgan avoids the head kick by Puro.
Morgan throws a sloppy head kick and Puro moves out of range easily.

Morgan dives in and scores a takedown into Puro's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Morgan with a flurry of punches that miss.
Puro is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Puro trying to control the position from guard on top but Morgan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Morgan displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Puro throws out the jab.

A close round but Dexter Morgan will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Morgan lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Morgan throws a strike but Puro avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Morgan is in close to Puro's body, working some short punches and elbows.

That was a close second round but I would say that Murska Puro will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Morgan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Morgan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Puro pinned against the cage. Puro gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Morgan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Puro's waist but Puro gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Morgan off to one side.

Murska Puro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dexter Morgan.

Morgan closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Morgan lands in his opponent's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Puro throws a head kick that misses.
Morgan fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Puro is looking to clinch but Morgan is avoiding it.
Puro jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

It looks like Dexter Morgan has been cut.

Morgan on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Morgan shoots in but Puro avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Puro paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Morgan forces Puro back against the cage and clinches.
Puro lands a hook to the side of the head.
A left hand lands to the body for Puro.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Puro.

Morgan manages to pull guard.
Puro wants to pass the guard but Morgan is keeping the position.
Morgan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Puro is one step ahead there.

Puro slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
You can see the frustration on Morgan's face as Puro controls the position.

A very excited looking Dexter Morgan rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
