Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mikey Day (ranked 947 p4p, 1057 weight class) and Usko Matonen (ranked 48 p4p, 53 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 15 - 13 - 1, fighting out of New York, Mikey Day! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 18 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Usko Matonen! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Chris Edwards and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Day clobbers Matonen with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Day misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Day's jab looks to have found its range, popping Matonen under the eye. Day has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Iron Sharpens Iron in the buildup to the fight. Matonen takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Day looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Day misses with a body punch
and Matonen counters with a nice leg kick. Matonen staying out of range there. Matonen flicks out a counter leg kick but Day steps away. A low kick lands for Matonen.
Matonen connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Day's hands. Day waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Matonen. Matonen swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Day lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Day dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Mikey Day seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Day fails with the takedown and Matonen counters with a huge head kick that drops Day! The ref dives in to stop the fight and the crowd goes wild!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Usko Matonen! An out of breath Usko Matonen thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
