Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Twea King (ranked 1087 p4p, 658 weight class) and Snappy Whiplash (ranked 122 p4p, 73 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Twea King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Snappy Whiplash!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Sam Margolis and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whiplash lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
King ducks under a wild hook from Whiplash.
King misses with a body shot.
King tried to score with a low kick but Whiplash checks it.
Whiplash buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
King clobbers Whiplash with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Whiplash lands with an uppercut that bounces King off the cage and back into range.
Whiplash uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by King.
King throws the left hand but Whiplash avoids the punch easily.

King has been working on his boxing with his coaches at For Pride and Prodigies in the buildup to the fight.
King fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
King throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Whiplash sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Whiplash unleashes a big counter combination but King bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Twea King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

King is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Whiplash.
King lands with a good body shot.
Whiplash scores with a head kick. King tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
King moves out of range of the strikes.
King fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
King misses with a head kick.
Whiplash slips under a jab.

and Whiplash counters with a nice uppercut.
King throws a looping overhand right but Whiplash ducks down to avoid it.

Whiplash gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Whiplash lands with a short punch from the clinch.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Whiplash.

King breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
King throws a lazy right hand but Whiplash sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Whiplash throws a shot from downtown. King moves away and avoids it.
King throws a head kick but Whiplash moves out of range.

King misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Whiplash.
King jabs Whiplash right on the nose. Whiplash blinks but takes it well.

King throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Whiplash was covering up waiting for the punch and King finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Whiplash keeping moving, preventing King from controlling successfully.
Whiplash is looking to stand up but King isn't so interested in that idea.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
King wants to control from the top but Whiplash keeps moving.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Twea King will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Whiplash accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

King is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Whiplash is aware though and is defending well.

Whiplash feints and then cracks King's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow King down.
King stuns Whiplash with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Whiplash lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and King has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from King and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
King is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

King shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

No luck for King with that takedown attempt.

Whiplash lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

It seemed like Whiplash was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Twea King is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
