Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shane Raffington (ranked 28 p4p, 402 weight class) and Santiago Costa (ranked 4 p4p, 57 weight class). Raffington's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Logan Lucky. Santiago Costa is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shane Raffington!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Santiago Costa!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Phil Schofield and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raffington takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Costa takes a swing at Raffington's ribcage but misses.
As Costa backs away, Raffington returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

Costa rushes Raffington and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Raffington manages to break the clinch.
Costa throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Raffington connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Santiago Costa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Costa drives through and clinches with Raffington against the cage.
Raffington taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Raffington stops a takedown attempt from Costa.

Costa manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Raffington slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Raffington's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Raffington is trying to control. Costa wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Costa is trying to maintain the position but Raffington is very close to passing his half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Costa has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Raffington is working away from the top position though.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

and Raffington cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Costa tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Raffington manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Raffington scores with a jab. Costa acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Costa takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Raffington lands a big head kick that sends Costa tumbling to the mat! Raffington takes a step backwards and waves Costa back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Santiago Costa has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Costa moves out of range of the body kick.
Costa fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Raffington manages to avoid it.
Raffington is looking to counter punch.
Costa is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Raffington doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Raffington throws a head punch that misses.
I was talking to Raffington's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Costa misses with some punches.
Costa is trying to pull guard but Raffington has him pressed against the cage.
Raffington tries to throw a body punch but Costa avoids it by throwing Raffington back against the cage.
Costa swings wildly with an uppercut but Raffington uses good head movement to avoid it.

Raffington not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Raffington has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Raffington wants to control from the top but Costa keeps moving.
Raffington is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Raffington won't allow Costa to sweep him here.

Costa is trying to drag Raffington to the mat but Raffington just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Costa has Raffington pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Raffington manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Costa is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Raffington pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Costa lands a nice hook to Raffington's body. Raffington takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Costa throws a series of punches but Raffington avoids them all with ease.
Raffington was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Raffington lands a leg kick that knocks Costa off balance momentarily.
Costa fails with an attempt to clinch.
Raffington keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Costa is still on wobbly legs! Can Raffington finish him?
Costa throws an off balance right hand
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Costa crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Raffington - the referee stops the clock and Costa gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Raffington. Costa manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

and Raffington counters with a right hand to the body.
Costa seems to have recovered his senses.
Raffington lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Costa falls backwards - clearly groggy! Raffington dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shane Raffington!

An out of breath Shane Raffington thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
