Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gene Steve Duterte (ranked 532 p4p, 629 weight class) and Irong Kasamsun (ranked 63 p4p, 76 weight class). Kasamsun is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Tain With No Love - Andre Nickatina. Irong Kasamsun told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gene Steve Duterte!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Irong Kasamsun!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paul Aken and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kasamsun shoots in and drives through. Duterte sprawls well.
Kasamsun closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Duterte quickly recovers to half guard.
Duterte wants to get back to his feet.
Kasamsun not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Kasamsun seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Duterte pushes Kasamsun off looking to stand but Kasamsun dives back in and keeps control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Duterte takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Kasamsun lands an elbow.

Kasamsun prevents Duterte from escaping the position.
Kasamsun lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Duterte wants to get back to his feet but Kasamsun drags him back down.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Kasamsun working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Duterte bucks up and tries to throw Kasamsun off but instead Kasamsun has got his back!
Duterte is trying to get back to his feet but Kasamsun has full control of the position and if anything, Duterte has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Duterte is rocked!
Kasamsun has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kasamsun cracks Duterte with a big right hand from the back mount! Duterte immediately covers up and the referee dives in to save him under a barrage of more strikes! Kasamsun takes this one by TKO!

Irong Kasamsun decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
