Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chin Askren (ranked 4928 p4p, 3963 weight class) and Klay Mcquarrie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Klay Mcquarrie is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chin Askren! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Klay Mcquarrie ! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Reed Andrews and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Askren misses with a body shot.
Mcquarrie tries to clinch there but Askren circles away.
A telegraphed right hand from Askren misses the target. Mcquarrie instigates a clinch. Mcquarrie jumps guard and drags Askren to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Askren trying to control the position from guard on top but Mcquarrie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mcquarrie looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mcquarrie has his foot on Askren's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Askren works his way back into a safe position though. Askren drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mcquarrie dives on top into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mcquarrie won't allow Askren to sweep him here. Askren has an active guard here but Mcquarrie has managed to pass into half guard.

Askren actively working from the bottom here. Askren is not content to let Mcquarrie control the position. Askren is looking for a sweep. Mcquarrie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Mcquarrie scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Askren knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mcquarrie on the ground. Askren is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mcquarrie pulls his head out easily. Mcquarrie controlling the action here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Askren wants to sweep but Mcquarrie has passed to side control! Askren sneaks back into half guard. Mcquarrie looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Askren looking for a kimura from the bottom but Mcquarrie passes into side control! Askren tries to improve position but can't. Askren can't do much from the bottom here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mcquarrie decides to stand back up. Askren darts in and clinches Mcquarrie up against the cage. Mcquarrie taking a breather. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Askren takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Mcquarrie pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Mcquarrie checks a low kick from Askren. Askren tries to close the distance and clinch but Mcquarrie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Askren sets himself, and Mcquarrie steps forward looking for the clinch! Askren avoids it this time. Askren misses with a leg kick and Mcquarrie counters with a body kick that stops Askren in his tracks momentarily. Askren throws the left hand but Mcquarrie avoids the punch easily. Askren misses with a looping left. Askren avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mcquarrie darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Askren wants to get back to full guard. Askren wants to control but Mcquarrie is keeping busy and won't allow it. Mcquarrie seems to be looking for submissions.
Mcquarrie prevents Askren from improving his position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Askren is working hard here to advance position. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Klay Mcquarrie dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Mcquarrie scores with a nice body kick.
Mcquarrie throws a right hand that Askren ducks under and follows up with a left that Askren also avoids with ease. Mcquarrie gets caught napping as Askren dives in and scores a takedown. Mcquarrie manages to retain guard. Askren is looking to pass into half guard but Mcquarrie pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Mcquarrie is in guard.
Askren is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mcquarrie is aware though and is defending well. Askren looking for subs off his back but Mcquarrie has passed one foot through into half guard.
Mcquarrie is taking a breather. Askren says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Askren regains full guard. Nicely done.

Mcquarrie doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mcquarrie manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Askren wants to sweep but no luck. Mcquarrie slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Askren has an active guard here but Mcquarrie has managed to pass into half guard.
Mcquarrie content to control rather than advance. Askren on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Askren tries to get out of the position. Askren tries to get to full guard but Mcquarrie has control of the leg.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Mcquarrie is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Askren is just riding it out for now. Mcquarrie eventually gives up the hold. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mcquarrie lands a nice short elbow. Askren actively working from the bottom here. Askren looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Mcquarrie performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Askren tries to roll over but Mcquarrie keeps him under control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Askren looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Mcquarrie has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Mcquarrie prevents Askren from improving his position. Askren looking for submissions from an awkward position here. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Askren wants to improve his position but Mcquarrie is controlling well.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Askren looks to land a right hand but Mcquarrie moved out of range. Mcquarrie gets the takedown into side control. Askren is trying to control Mcquarrie 's posture but Mcquarrie avoids it. Mcquarrie is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Askren tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Mcquarrie presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mcquarrie in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Askren is trying desperately to improve position. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Klay Mcquarrie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Askren's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round! Askren throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Askren attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Mcquarrie closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Askren quickly recovers to half guard. Askren wants to sweep but Mcquarrie has passed to side control! Askren tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mcquarrie wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Mcquarrie taking a breather here. Askren is not content to let Mcquarrie control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mcquarrie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mcquarrie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Askren is trying to reverse the position but instead Mcquarrie has taken his back - oops! Chin Askren has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Mcquarrie is looking for the choke from the back position but Askren is controlling his hands well. Askren wants to control his opponent's hands but Mcquarrie gets his hands free. Askren rolls, trying to escape but Mcquarrie keeps control of the position.
Askren manages to reverse the position and now he's in Mcquarrie 's guard. Nice work there by Askren.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mcquarrie avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Askren drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mcquarrie dives on top into guard.

Mcquarrie tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Askren tries to improve his position but instead Mcquarrie has taken his back! You can see the frustration on Askren's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Can Askren hold on?! Mcquarrie is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Mcquarrie tries to get the hooks in deep but Askren pushed the leg off. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Askren is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mcquarrie is riding his opponent, not letting Askren buck him off. Klay Mcquarrie is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Mcquarrie keeps control of the position as Askren tries to break free.
And that's the end of the fight! Klay Mcquarrie comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Mcquarrie winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
