Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dominick Poirier (ranked 3762 p4p, 6389 weight class) and Wake Baked (ranked 326 p4p, 435 weight class). Wake Baked has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Dominick Poirier's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dominick Poirier! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wake Baked! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Baked misses with a jab, cross combination.
Baked misses with a low kick.
Baked throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Baked clobbers Poirier with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Baked. Baked throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Baked fails with a takedown attempt. A combination from Baked does no damage. Poirier seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Poirier tries to clinch up. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Baked! But no joy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Poirier shoots in for a takedown but Baked shows good takedown defense. Baked throws a sloppy head kick and Poirier counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Poirier fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Poirier takes the fight into the clinch. Baked turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Baked manages to end up in side control. Poirier throws Baked to one side and escapes! Poirier shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Baked manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. This has been an exciting period of action! Poirier trying to control but Baked is working from the bottom. Baked is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Baked looks winded! Baked looking to sweep here. No luck so far. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Baked can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Baked managing to control the position. Baked keeping moving, preventing Poirier from controlling successfully. Poirier scoring with punches to the head and body. Poirier wants to control from the top but Baked keeps moving. Poirier is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Baked is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Poirier scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Poirier chips away with some ground and pound. Poirier wants to control from the top but Baked keeps moving. Baked controlling Poirier's posture. Poirier has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Baked looking for a sweep. Not yet Baked, not yet.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Poirier has closed the distance and engaged Baked in a clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Poirier blocks an elbow strike. Poirier escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Baked tries a head kick but it misses.
Poirier defending well as Baked loads up on a big left hand. Poirier shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dominick Poirier. That's going to take a lot out of him. Poirier scores with a takedown into Baked's guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Poirier wants to control from the top but Baked keeps moving. Baked keeping full guard, as Poirier tries to pass. Baked trying to keep a closed guard but Poirier is proving a slippery customer.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Baked blocks a leg kick. Poirier tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Wake Baked seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Baked swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Poirier counters by clinching up. Baked wants to break the clinch but can't.
Poirier manages to pull guard.
Poirier has control of Baked's left arm, preventing Baked from doing any damage. Baked decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Poirier, up you get! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Baked throws a head kick that misses. Poirier gets a takedown into half guard. Baked holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Dominick Poirier overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Poirier is trying to control the action in half guard but Baked is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Poirier looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Poirier trying to control the action but Baked is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Baked wants to get back to full guard but Poirier has mounted him! Baked is bucking up trying to escape but Poirier cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Baked is trying desperately to improve position. Poirier cracks Baked with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Baked sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Poirier stops Baked from getting back to his feet.
Baked wants to get back to full guard but Poirier has passed into side control. Baked tries to buck Poirier off but Poirier is having none of it. Baked is breathing heavily. Poirier decides to stand back up. Poirier steps back and let's Baked get back to his feet. Poirier wants to clinch. As Poirier backs off Baked throws a huge counter combo but Poirier manages to avoid it all. Baked tries to clinch but Poirier moves out of range. Dominick Poirier is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A looping hook to the body misses from Baked. Poirier does a little dance to reset his feet. Poirier throws a counter high kick but Baked was just alert enough to avoid it. Poirier closes the distance and pushes Baked back into the cage. Poirier manages to pull guard.
Poirier is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Baked content to stall in guard here. Poirier wants to get back to his feet but Baked is in a dominant position and won't allow it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Poirier had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Baked defends it easily. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Dominick Poirier dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Baked tries to keep at a distance but Poirier has taken the fight into the clinch. Baked wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Poirier has him pressed against the cage. Baked takes an elbow to the forehead. Baked drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Poirier gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Baked is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Poirier to keep the fight standing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Baked has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Poirier has Baked pressed against the cage, preventing Baked from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Baked can't find room to land a body shot as Poirier controls the action.

That's one minute gone in the round. Poirier misses with a short punch on the inside. Baked has Poirier pushed against the cage. Baked creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Nice elbow from Baked. Poirier has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Baked clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Can Baked hold on?! Poirier is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Baked wants to escape the position.
Poirier is cranking Baked's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Baked! He's tightened the choke and Baked is tapping out!
