And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 3 losses; Joey Simone!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Percy O'Donnell.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Kurri has Simone up against the ropes in a clinch.
Simone is trying to pull guard but Kurri turns him against the ropes and we stay in the clinch.

Kurri has hold of one of Simone's legs. Simone is fighting the takedown attempt but Kurri gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Kurri drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kurri jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Kurri sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Simone's guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kurri has control of Simone's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Simone regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Simone manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Simone has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Simone is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Kurri is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Simone doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kurri.

Kurri is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Simone still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Simone has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
