Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michal Materlak (ranked 4676 p4p, 4631 weight class) and Mamed Khalidovic (ranked 514 p4p, 510 weight class). Materlak comes to the cage accompanied by Marzenia. Khalidovic has chosen Stand Back as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Materlak gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Materlak takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Materlak misses with a jab to the body
and Khalidovic counters with a stiff right hand.
Materlak throws a sloppy head kick and Khalidovic moves out of range easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It seemed like Khalidovic was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Khalidovic lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Materlak checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Khalidovic is looking to regain half guard here but Materlak keeps moving and retains side control.
You can see the frustration on Khalidovic's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Materlak is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Khalidovic's shoulder. That is not cool.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Materlak tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
