PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Liger Justin (ranked 1697 p4p, 1939 weight class) and Nathan Dylan (ranked 245 p4p, 274 weight class). Dylan has chosen Darci - On My Own as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Liger Justin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nathan Dylan!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Ben Watson and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Justin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Justin scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Dylan trying to remain calm as Justin controls from the top position.
Dylan is pushing Justin's head away, looking to escape. Justin manages to hold on to the position though.
We've been hearing that Justin has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
A lull in the action here as Justin stalls from top position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dylan can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dylan avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Justin.
Justin cracks Dylan with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Dylan is being controlled here.
Dylan tries to escape but Justin is in control.
Justin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
A lull in the action here as Justin stalls from top position.
Dylan is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Justin is controlling him well.
Dylan is not content to let Justin control the position.
Dylan pushes Justin away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Justin gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Dylan told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Dylan parries the strikes from Justin easily there. Justin is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Dylan to escape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Justin wants to control but Dylan is keeping him busy.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Justin uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Dylan.

Justin drives through with a takedown into Dylan's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Dylan is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Justin throws a big elbow that misses.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Justin in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Justin lands with a straight right. Dylan didn't see that one coming.

Justin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dylan looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Justin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dylan keeps working.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dylan avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Justin.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Justin tries for a takedown but Dylan circles away easily
and Dylan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Justin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dylan circles away quickly and effectively.
A big left from Dylan misses.
Justin closes the distance and clinches up with Dylan, looking for a takedown. Justin pushes Dylan against the cage but Dylan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Justin goes for a double leg but Dylan avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Dylan continues to drive forward.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Liger Justin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dylan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The crowd cheers as Dylan lands an impressive looking overhand right. Justin doesn't seem phased though.
Justin connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Justin moves away from the strike by Dylan.
Dylan misses with a hook. Justin ducked under it nicely.

Justin closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Dylan's guard.

Dylan wriggles free and stands up.

Justin catches Dylan with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Justin throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Dylan sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Nathan Dylan seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Justin dives in and grabs Dylan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dylan pushes down on Justin's head and hops out.
Dylan missing with a left hand there. Justin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Dylan jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Dylan throws a leg kick but Justin moved away.
Justin shoots for a double leg takedown but Dylan sprawls well. He's pushed Justin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Dylan! But no joy.
Nathan Dylan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Justin takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

It looks like Liger Justin has been cut.

Justin shoots in and gets a takedown into Dylan's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Justin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Dylan wants to get back to his feet.
Justin looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Justin wants to take a breather but Dylan is having none of it.

Justin throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Justin perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Dylan wants to get back to his feet.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Justin is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
A telegraphed right hand from Justin misses the target.
Justin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dylan is fending him off so far but Justin persists. Nope, Dylan circles away and we're back to standing.

Justin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Justin goes for a double leg but Dylan avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Dylan continues to drive forward.

Justin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dylan defends it nicely.
A little jabbing left from Dylan on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Dylan drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Justin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Dylan manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Justin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dylan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dylan avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Nathan Dylan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Dylan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Nathan Dylan rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
