PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pitt Longstaff (ranked 2814 p4p, 2942 weight class) and Murilo Figueiredo (ranked 367 p4p, 383 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Longstaff might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Death Grips - Bottomless Pit. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pitt Longstaff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Murilo Figueiredo!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Ron Honeybunn and Steve Erwin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Longstaff throws a nice looking combination but Figueiredo bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Longstaff digs a good hook to Figueiredo's body.
Figueiredo ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Longstaff moves away.
A slow jab from Figueiredo misses its intended target.

Longstaff closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Longstaff manages to break the clinch.
A shot to the liver by Figueiredo. Beautiful body shot.
Figueiredo is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Longstaff.
Longstaff throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Figueiredo counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
A slow jab from Figueiredo misses its intended target.
Longstaff closes the distance and lands a one-two.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Longstaff clinches.

Longstaff manages to break the clinch.
Longstaff looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Longstaff lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Figueiredo circles away quickly and effectively.
Longstaff connects with a high kick.
Figueiredo misses with a wild body shot.
Figueiredo on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Longstaff misses the shot to the body.
A little jabbing left from Figueiredo on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Figueiredo looks up at the clock. Bad move! Longstaff lands a right hand from hell, dropping Figueiredo. Longstaff pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:07 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pitt Longstaff!
A determined Pitt Longstaff didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
