PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tim Meyer (ranked 4158 p4p, 4243 weight class) and Jesperson Knudsen (ranked 199 p4p, 203 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meyer will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Meyer is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Knudsen defends it well.

Knudsen jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Meyer walks away with a smile on his face. Knudsen gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Meyer drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Knudsen manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Meyer has Knudsen in his guard.

BOOM! Meyer connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Meyer takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Meyer is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Knudsen has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Knudsen!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Knudsen wants to control the action but instead Meyer gets a body lock and reverses into Knudsen's guard! Nice work!

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Meyer dives in and grabs Knudsen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Knudsen pushes down on Meyer's head and hops out.
Knudsen will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A looping hook to the body misses from Knudsen. Meyer does a little dance to reset his feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Meyer rushes Knudsen and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Knudsen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Knudsen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Knudsen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Good work by Meyer as he checks the leg kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Meyer.

Meyer forces Knudsen back against the cage and clinches.

Meyer breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Meyer has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Knudsen uses from the top position.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tim Meyer.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Meyer, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
