PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kim Jones (ranked 4458 p4p, 5216 weight class) and Sigmund Cabrera (ranked 169 p4p, 473 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kim Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sigmund Cabrera!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones looks to throw a body kick

and Cabrera holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Jones is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Jones tries to pull guard but Cabrera holds him up against the cage and eventually Jones drops back down to his feet.

Jones is pressed up against the cage. Cabrera has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jones down to the mat. Jones avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Jones could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cabrera shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jones but Jones pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jones closes the distance and clinches up with Cabrera, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes Cabrera against the cage but Cabrera circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cabrera lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kim Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jones shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cabrera pinned against the cage. Cabrera gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Despite the aggression on Cabrera's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Jones shoots for a double leg takedown but Cabrera sprawls well. He's pushed Jones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cabrera is looking to escape.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Sigmund Cabrera will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Jones drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Cabrera scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Jones changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cabrera looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Cabrera throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Cabrera shoots in for a double leg but Jones sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sigmund Cabrera seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kim Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jones throws a chopping leg kick but Cabrera manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Jones.
Cabrera is looking to get back to his feet here but Jones is keeping cool and he's managed to take Cabrera's back.

Jones has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Cabrera is in real trouble here. Jones gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Cabrera is tapping out! Jones wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kim Jones!
